Jamix entered the market 30 years ago and has emerged as a brand name for kitchen management software internationally. Jamix amassed a large client base with successful business partnerships. I have reviewed similar products and you can read all my product comparisons here.

Overview

Jamix is a European developed Kitchen Management software package that encompasses inventory and procurement management, recipe management, costing and menu planning under one cloud-based application. It is designed to be used by single unit operations to large multi-unit, multi-location foodservice operations.

The software is built around two major modules and data sets. The first being the Recipes,  the second being ingredients, which is called Stock in the system. The modules work together to create and communicate purchasing information, calculate production needs, supply nutritional information, generate financial reports and create and publish unique daily and cycle menus.

Recipe Management

Jamix utilizes a multi-faceted approach to recipe creation management. It uses a stepped approach to recipe writing whereby particular ingredients can be associated with different stages of an items production. This increases efficient and focused production ques. Each step can have associated photos and instructions.

Menu Management

The menu planning feature allows users to create menus for singular events or complex weekly cycle menus offering multiple day parts and options. Once compiled, menus can be attractively posted a website or social media page for preview or download.

List Management

Manage Production Lists Individual scaled recipes or commissary style consolidated production lists can be produced and delegated to departments or units for specific production responsibility creating clear lines or accountability and communication of what needs to get made and by whom based sales data.

Manage Shopping Lists With the ingredient data set, users have the option to apply yield factors to each ingredient which will convert consolidated recipe quantities into scaled purchase quantities providing exact purchasing needs, in conjunction with par stocks ensures you don’t run out of product when you least expect it. This saves on time, extra trips to the stores and less paperwork.

Then Jamix can create both electronic and printable purchase orders by vendors that can be sent via optional Broad-liner EDS or email. In addition, purchases can be imported, automatically updating inventory costs and menu pricing in real-time.

Data Tracking & Reporting

Calculate Food Cost and Inventory Value Jamix can calculate all menu and recipe pricing from ingredient purchase information through the use of conversions from purchase unit to recipe unit and adjusting price based on production yields. This same information is used to calculate inventory value. Mobile app technology incorporates scanning technology to count inventory and update the data.

Waste Tracking In combination with sales information and production levels, users can register over production to analysis waste to understand production ratios, improve costs and reduce labor by fine tuning actual need verses speculative planning.

Nutritional Information & Allergen Identification

Jamix comes with basic nutritional and allergen information for common ingredients. These can be continually updated and edited for processed commodity items unique to each operation. Menu items or recipes can be identified with common dietary terms or with unique dietary or allergen symbols. Recipes can also be linked to specific dietary plans.  The software allows the printing of specific customized labels for any retail packaging required by federal, state or local labelling legislation.

System Requirement

The software is compatible with Android and iOS devices whether desktop, or personal device.  It is a cloud-based service which access to the system, modules and data can be restricted through layered user security.

On-Boarding

The company provides several ways to set-up the system through data manual data entry or the use of import tools such as custom spreadsheets and file formats to compile data and list data.

Fee Structure

Jamix is a monthly subscription-based service that is sliding based on the particular modules and advanced features a user wishes to utilize. Other factors include the size of the operation and number and type of users.
