CaterZen Review (2019)

With a decade of experience, CaterZen is a comprehensive catering service with systems for marketing, management, sales, and in-house processes. I have reviewed similar products and you can check out all of my product comparisons here.

Overview

CaterZen is an EMS and CRM capable program. CaterZen offers three plans for customer flexibility depending on the size of operations. Pro, Pro Plus, and Marketing Pro Plus all offer different services for FOH, client interaction/ordering, and behind the scenes operations. Pro offers the least services while Pro Plus offers all of CaterZen’s services. 

Daily Management

All three programs include unlimited users, transactions, menus/items, and orders/events. CaterZen offers free support, after a one time set up fee, free software upgrades, and mobile functionality. CaterZen can control reporting, statistics, and labeling and load outs. CaterZen has client interface and menu creation/editing capabilities for easy front of house functioning.

For Back Office Management capabilities, CaterZen can control accounting/reporting, calendar functions, company ordering, delivery systems with tracking, a full CRM database, and offers a call module. Features vary based on purchased program.

Inquiry Reporting CaterZen offers a memory system, which tracks all conversations with clients including on-line or mobile conversations for client portfolios. CaterZen has inquiry tools and they offer personal marketing tactics to lure customers into new or continuous contracts including Thank You programs, loyalty programs, and referral systems. CaterZen has unlimited templates for company use.

CaterZen’s CRM capabilities include email marketing but does not act as an interface to any company social media.

Administrative Management CaterZen can customize contracts for company use and offers online E-signature (CaterZen Propritary Software) access for faster communication. There is a template for proposals and a word processor format for additional documents with unlimited template use. 

CaterZen does not offer staffing but potentially offers ways to order staffing.

CaterZen does not offer room management.

CaterZen offers multiple billing options.

Menu Management CaterZen offers a Seasonal Menus option for rotating menus. Users can link items to menu items within multiple prints. Users can see prep-items in summary reports. Online Ordering is through Iframe Technology. There is customized labelling available.

Task Management CaterZen offers task lists and reminders for events with no defaults.

Mobile Applications CaterZen is enabled for personal and mobile device usage.

Delivery Management With a cutting edge, web enabled, tracking system, CaterZen can help employers analyze delivery data to eliminate wasteful force. Delivery rate services are variable on flat rate radius.

System Requirement

CaterZen is cloud based and does not require any prior system and is accessible with internet access.

Interfaces

CaterZen offers interface integration with the following interfaces

Google Suite, STP File Export, and remote Quickbooks. CaterZen is looking to integrate with QuickBook On-line by 2020.

There is some POS integration but CaterZen is looking to integrate more POS systems in 2020. 

On-Boarding

CaterZen has onboarding specialists for smooth transitioning. The onboarding fee covers the onboarding specialists for 200 menu items and all customer contact information. After 200 items, there is a fee per item for entry. 

Fee Structure

There is a one-time start up support fee. Payment plans are offered in monthly installments and all plans have a free trial option for customers, which do not require any credit card information. For marketing modules, there are per-action fees. Other services may require fees.

CaterZen has a support line, online support access, and an email for customers to use. There is also a large FAQ section via the CaterZen website. CaterZen offers online resources including videos, eBooks, and a blog for further support and system training.
